What is the "Busy Mom Service"?
The BUSY MOM SERVICE has been created for all you busy moms who love the idea of consinging, have tons of things that your kids have outgrown, but just do not have the time to prepare and tag your items for the sale. This service will do that for you! For your convenience, we have "Busy Mom" Helpers in both Altoona and Johnstown. The "Busy Mom" helper will earn 20% of your sales. You will earn 40% of your sales. If you volunteer at the sale you could earn up to 50% depending on the number of hours you volunteer. You can find that information under the "volunteer" tab.
What Fees Do I pay for this Service?
- $8.00 Consignor Fee for Altoona Sales/ $5.00 Consignor Fee for Johnstown Sales (paid by all consignors and deducted from your check)
- Supply Fee - This fee is used to help offset the Busy Mom's cost for cardstock, pins, ink, tagging supplies, gas, etc. and is paid directly to your Busy Mom Helper. You can choose which option BEST FITS your situation.
- * $20.00 Supply Fee... If you choose this option, you do not need to supply hangers.
- * $10.00 Supply Fee... If you choose this option, you must supply hangers at least half of the hangers needed for your items.
- * $5.00 Supply Fee... If you choose this option, you must supply hangers for all your hanging items.
- * NO Supply Fee if your items are already on hangers.
- Battery Fee...$1.00 for each battery the Busy Mom Helper must replace. (This charge will be deducted from your check and paid to your busy mom helper.) Please be sure to check your batteries so that you do not pay this charge.
What do I do if I am interested in the "Busy Mom Service"?
- Click the "Contact Us" tab and send an email to let us know you are interested in this service. If possible, let us know about how soon you expect to have your items ready, about how many items you expect to have, and where you live so that we can arrange for a "busy mom" helper who lives close to your area. We will forward your information to a "busy mom" helper who will contact you to arrange a time to drop off your items and answer any questions that you might have.
- Click the "New Consignor" tab and register for the sale. You will receive a consignor number and a password.
- Gather everything that you want to enter into the sale. You can find information on what items are accepted under the "consignor" tab on the top of the website.
- Make sure all toys and equipment are clean with working batteries. Check for missing pieces.
- All clothes must be freshly laundered and neatly folded into a box or tote. DO NOT USE GARBAGE BAGS FOR CLOTHES as the clothes tend to get very wrinkled and wrinkled clothes do not sell.
- If you have specific prices that you would like to ask for your items, it is easiest to if you sort them by price. For example, all of the items that you would like to sell for $4.00 you would put into one container with the price on top or written on the box, $5.00 box, etc. If you have a few expensive items that you would like to ask a specific price for, then you could just list them on a sheet of paper or label each item with the price. Of course, your "busy mom" helper is happy to do all the pricing for you. She is a pro at pricing and will provide you the opportunity to view your items and pricing before she prints the tags.
- We will discount all items for "discount" days. If there are a few specific items that you do not want to discount be sure to inform your "busy mom" helper.
- If you do not want to donate your items, it is your responsibility to pick them up at the end of the sale on Sunday. You can find the pick up times on the "schedule" page under "The Sale" tab.
- Check out the "Volunteer" information and if possible volunteer with other moms and earn an extra 5 or 10% of your sales.
- Plan to shop the Pre-Sale. You can find specific shopping times listed on the "Schedule" page under "The Sale" tab. You can pick up your Pre-Sale wristband at the counter when you enter.
- Relax and track your sales.
- Don't forget to pick up your unsold items that you do not wish to donate.
- Checks will be mailed within 3 days of the sale.
What will the "Busy Mom" Helper do?
Your "Busy Mom" Helper will....
- Arrange a time to receive your items
- Price and enter your items
- Allow you the opportunity to review the prices and make any changes to them before printing your tags
- Tag and hang your items
- Deliver your items to the sale
- Text you a copy of the Pre-Sale and Pick Up Schedule
